| Prof. Dr. Magued I. Osman |
 Dr. Magued Osman is the Chairman of the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers' Information and Decision Support Center IDSC since the beginning of 2005. Dr. Osman is an expert of statistical analysis, and public opinion measurements and surveys, and demographic studies. He is a professor at the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Economics and Political Science in Cairo University, and he is the director of Evidence Based Population Policy Project (funded by the United Nations Population Fund).
In addition, he is the head of the National Committee on Crisis Management and Risk Reduction, and the National Committee for Data revision and Validation.
Dr. Osman is a member of The Supreme Policies Council at The National Democratic Party, and a member of the Health and Population Committee at The National Democratic Party. In addition, he is a member in a number of national committees including; The Committee of National Transparency and Integrity, the board of directors at The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority, The National Population Council, The board of trustees at the National Institute of Administration, The Research Council of Population and Social Sciences at The Academy of Scientific Research, The Permanent Scientific Committee at The National Centre for Social and Criminal Research, and the Committee of Information and Communication at the National Committee of Education, Science and Culture.
In addition, Dr. Osman is a member in several scientific associations such as; The American Statistical Association, The International Association for Statistical Education, The American Public Health Association, The Population Association of America, The International Union for Scientific Studies in Population, The Egyptian Society for Political Economics, Statistics and legislation, and The World Future Society.
Before joining IDSC, Dr. Osman acted as the director of the Cairo Demographic Center. Moreover, he provided technical and consultancy expertise in the fields of statistics, information, population and public health to a number of prestigious local, regional and international institutions and organizations such as; The Economic Research Forum, The Canadian International Development Research Center, the United Nations Development Program UNDP, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development UNCTAD, and The United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF). Dr. Osman also tutored at the United Arab Emirates University and the University of King Faisal. He also occupied the positions of visiting professor at the University of the Arabian Gulf, and research professor at the Center of Social Research- the American University in Cairo. |
