First meeting for the Arab Network for Research and Public Opinion Polls

The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) held its first meeting for the founders of the Arab Network for Research and Public Opinion Polls (ANRPOP) on Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th, July 2010 at IDSC’s headquarters. The two-day meeting comprised representatives from a number of Arab public opinion polling center, in addition to a group of experts, researchers and practitioners in the polling field.

IDSC Sign a Cooperation Protocol With Mubarak Public Library

Within the framework of The Egyptian Cabinet"s Information and Decision Support Center to strengthen the cooperation with different parties, The IDSC has signed a cooperation protocol with Mubarak Public Library on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 by Magued Osman, PhD, Chairman of IDSC, and Ambassador Abdel Raouf Al Ridy, Chairman of Mubarak Public Library.

Workshop on "The Legislative System of Social Protection in Egypt.. The draft Law of Social Insurance and Pensions"

Within the framework of the Social Contract Center, SCC to support policy-making process through the discussion of the draft laws before the parliament, and to ensure a wide area of representation from all views and perspectives, SCC organized a workshop entitled "The Legislative System of Social Protection in Egypt.. The draft Law of Social Insurance and Pensions", on Tuesday, May 18th, 2010.

IDSC Participates in The Conference for The Faculty of Commerce, Mansoura University "Knowledge Management: Strategies and Challenges"

The Egyptian Cabinet"s Information and Decision Support Center participated in the 25th Annual International Scientific Conference for The Faculty of Commerce at Mansoura University, entitled "Knowledge Management: Strategies and Challenges" from 4th to 6th of May, 2010. The participation of IDSC comes within its policy towards supporting the implementation of Knowledge Management in the Egyptian governmental sector, think tanks, and research organizations.

Cultural Celebration at the Cairo University to announce the launch of The International Year of Youth

Under the auspices of Dr. Hossam Kamel, president of Cairo University, the grand hall at Cairo University hosted on Sunday, March 21st, 2010 the cultural celebrations to announce the launch of the International Year of Youth. The celebration is under the auspices of Community Services and Environmental Development at Cairo University, and in cooperation with the United Nations, the Ministry of Family and Population, the National Council for Youth, the Egyptian Cabinet"s Information and Decision Support Center, and Sakyat El Sawy.

Social Contract Center celebrated the launch of "Shabab Net" in attendance of Author Belal Fadl

In a great ceremony attended by Author Belal Fadl and the "I"m Egyptian" musical band, the Social Contract Center SCC launched "Shabab Net" Website. Large groups of young people from different ideological trends attended the ceremony to participate in this project, which connects young people interested in development work in Egypt.

The UN proclaims The International Year of Youth (12 August 2010 – 11 August 2011)

The United Nations proclaimed an International Year of Youth starting on 12th August 2010, In an effort to harness the energy, imagination and initiative of the world’s youth in overcoming the challenges facing humankind, from enhancing peace to boosting economic development. This event aims at advancing the full and effective participation of youth in all aspects of society to encourage all sectors of society to work in partnership with youth and youth organizations to better understand their needs and concerns and to recognize the contributions that they can make to society.

Policy forum: "new social contract: towards integrated of economic and social policies"

The Social Contract Centre held on 18 and January 19, 2010 a policy forum entitled: "new social contract: towards integrated of economic and social policies". The forum was held in order to launch a national dialogue on public policy in Egypt, and the need to combine economic development with social development.

"The Future of Culture in Egypt: the film industry as a model"

The Center of Future Studies at the Cabinet"s Information and Decision Support Center held on 11th of January, 2010 a workshop entitled: "The Future of Culture in Egypt: the film industry as a model". A number of experts and professionals in the field of cinema in Egypt attended the workshop. It was emphasized that the goal of this workshop is to provide a number of recommendations for decision makers, leading to the mobilization of all capabilities and provide more facilities to promote the film industry in Egypt.

Seminar: Sampling methods and data analysis in order to monitor and evaluate the impact of development initiatives

In line with the Social Contract Center"s (SCC) aim to provide technical support to researchers and practitioners working in development initiatives, SCC held on Thursday, 12 November 2009 a seminar on sampling methods and statistical data analysis in panel surveys for monitoring and evaluating the impact of development initiatives..

The second Cairo International Conference on Public Opinion.. "The Public Opinion Polls in a Changing Society"

The Cabinet"s IDSC, in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer and Ford Foundation, held The Second Cairo International Conference on Public Opinion entitled "The Public Opinion Polls in a Changing Society", from 8 to 10 November 2009. Over three days, the conference discussed 50 research papers over 14 sessions and 3 panel discussions..

Workshop on "Building the Scientific Base in Egypt and its Educational Tributaries in the Future"

The Center of Future Studies at the Information and Decision Support Centre held a workshop entitled "Building the Scientific Base in Egypt and its Educational tributaries in the Future". The workshop attended by representatives from the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as representatives from the Fund of Science and Technological Development, and a group of experts..

The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre held on Tuesday 5/26/2009 the first forum entitled: “The Role of Non-governmental Organizations and Civil Society to face the crisis of A/H1N1 epidemic, known as: swine flu. The Forum came within the role of the emergency operations room, which was consisted from all the stakeholders to follow up the crisis at the headquarters of IDSC, and as a part in the framework of the efforts to prevent the spread of swine flu in Egypt and raise the awareness of the disease seriousness among the citizens.
